Specialists in bioproduction of commodity chemicals via green chemistry, Metabolic Explorer (Metex) obtains the first samples of one of its proprietary chemicals, the 1,3-propanediol (PDO). These samples are over 99.5% pure and were obtained by fermentation of industrial, unrefined glycerol (from biodiesel production) followed by a patented purfication stage. PDO has applications in the textile (polyesters) and cosmetics (body care) industries.
