EFIB: The largest conference in Europe for the bio-based market EFIB 2011

Why EFIB is important?

EFIB is now clearly established as the market leading conference for the Industrial Biotech sector with high profile speakers, a comprehensive exhibition, large attendance and networking opportunities with big name CEOs and policy makers. The conference brings together the entire value chain of the bio-based economy: from farmers and feedstock producers to producers of innovative bio-based products.

What is special about this year's conference?

Taking place in Amsterdam on October 19th & 20th, EFIB 2011 will feature over 60 high-profile speakers, two plenary sessions, three parallel tracks, an exhibition and vast networking opportunities with over 400 senior decision-makers expected to attend.

This year's forum is particularly relevant because of the many recent policy developments in Europe. The Bio-based Economy is set to grow by 38% CAGR over the next 5 years; therefore it will form the cornerstone of Europe's sustainability and competitive strategies.

Over the last 12 months, Chemicals Northwest has been running an ambitious business improvement pilot programme called ‘Process Innogateway’. With funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency, we have been able to work with seven manufacturing sites across the region to test a methodology for assessing a company’s performance, benchmarking it against UK and world class chemical sector standards, establishing interventions for improvement and identifying shared opportunities for companies aiding each other.

This event will share best practice and learning from some of the companies involved in the programme: Akcros Chemicals, Innospec, Innovia Films, PQ Corporation, RS Clare, Springfields Fuels, and William Blythe; which range from family owned SMEs to sites with large multinational backgrounds.  12 business areas were investigated including supply chain and logistics; operational performance; process development; resource efficiency and new product development.

The results from our pilot study should be of interest to chemical sector manufacturers (senior management, operations, R&D, engineering... in fact anyone within such a business!), and organisations that provide support to the sector.

Come and hear from those involved and find out how your company can adopt some beneficial new practices.
